8:30am – 12:00pm

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is sponsoring a women’s spiritual mini-retreat at the Cathedral Center, 1102 South Clinton Street, Fort Wayne. Come spend the morning listening to and reflecting on the voices of women as they encounter Jesus in the scriptures – from the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s Well to Mary Magdalene at the tomb, and the travelers on the road to Emmaus. Attendees are asked to bring a Bible with them for use during the retreat. A welcoming light breakfast will be served. There is no fee for the mini-retreat, but a free-will donation to support the Cathedral’s Project Help is welcomed. Cindy Black, a lay woman, with over 26 years of experience in Catholic ministry and parish evangelization will lead the retreat. She holds a Master’s degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame.

Seating capacity is limited. Please register early, but no later than April 26, 2026 at [email protected].

Infertility can be an isolating experience, impacting our marriage and other relationships, and testing our faith. If this is your experience, you’re not alone! We invite you to join with others walking this path by participating in a small group book study sponsored by the diocesan ministry, Hope for the Journey. We will be reading and discussing the book, “Searching For and Maintaining Peace” by Fr. Jacques Philippe, copies of which will be provided to participants. This book is one of the resources recommended by Springs in the Desert, a national Catholic infertility ministry which by which our small group is also sponsored. Our group will be a place to acknowledge the pain and complex emotions associated with infertility and loss through prayer, reflection, sharing and fellowship. We will meet at St. Charles Borromeo parish in Fort Wayne every other Thursday from 7-8:30 PM starting on May 4. To register, please email Rachel Bennett at [email protected].

Christ Child Society Diaper Drop

9:00am – 2:00pm

The Christ Child Society of South Bend is holding its seventh annual Diaper Drop! The Diaper Drop will be on Wednesday, May 13, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Christ Child Society Clothing Center in the Town and Country Shopping Center, Mishawaka.  Diapers can be dropped off in front of the building with no need to leave cars.

In this time of economic uncertainty, the need for diapers is greater as Moms try to balance the budget in the face of rising costs.  Having to decide between food for your children or diapers for your baby is a decision no parent should have to make.

The Christ Child Society wants to make the lives of infants, toddlers and Moms in our community better, healthier and safer!

St. Felix Hosts Mass for the Sick

12:30pm – 2:00pm

Mass for the Sick and Troubled is held the third Saturday of each month at St. Felix Catholic Center, 1280 Hitzfield Street, Huntington, IN 46750. The Rosary starts at 12:30 p.m. and Mass is at 1:00 p.m.

Blessed Father Solanus Casey holds special significance for St. Felix and the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese because he lived for a time at St. Felix Friary in Huntington, Indiana. During his years at St. Felix, Solanus became known for his humble service, deep compassion, and spiritual counsel, touching countless lives through his ministry at the friary door. His presence and witness at St. Felix have left a lasting spiritual legacy in the local Catholic community, inspiring ongoing devotion and encouraging the faithful to embody the virtues of humility, hospitality, and unity that he so beautifully modeled. His example continues to shape the spiritual identity of the Diocese and serves as a reminder of the transforming power of simple, faithful service.

Solanus Casey lived a life marked by simplicity, suffering, and quiet faithfulness. As a Capuchin Franciscan friar, he was ordained a simplex priest and assigned primarily as a porter, welcoming visitors at the monastery door. By the world’s standards, his role seemed insignificant. Yet God used that doorway to touch thousands of lives.

Father Solanus Casey instructed the other friars to provide food, famously saying, “They are hungry; get them some soup and sandwiches”.

Before the Mass for the Sick and Troubled, soup will be served, followed by Rosary at 12:30 p.m. and Mass at 1:00 p.m.

Summit Awakening 13

6:00pm (05/29) – 4:00pm (05/31)

Summit Awakening is a Catholic retreat held twice per year (early summer and late fall) that creates an opportunity in which young adults can become more fully awakened to the ever-present love of God. Anyone age 18-25 is welcome to attend.

Summit Awakening encourages self-reflection and meaningful connections by allowing young adults to step-out of their normal routines for a weekend of prayer. During the retreat, there are talks given by students, opportunities to pray, reflect and share with small groups, and lots of fun to be had! The Sacraments will be offered so prepare yourself for an immersive weekend into your faith life!

This young adult-led retreat challenges students to embrace an enhanced commitment to love, integrity, faith, and most importantly the Eucharist. Invite your friends and be prepared to make new ones too!

Scholarships are available for anyone who may need financial assistance to attend.

7:00pm (05/29) – 5:15pm (05/30)

God has created you for a unique purpose in life. Discover your spiritual gifts to reveal that calling!

Called & Gifted is designed to help you learn about charisms and lead you through the process of discerning your gifts and call.

The workshop includes video presentations, small group discussion, and a spiritual gifts inventory.

Cost: $30. Registration is required by May 24.

Finding God in Humble St. Joseph
(OSV News) — St. Joseph does not draw attention to himself. He listens, and he acts, exemplifying what a disciple is: the one who hears “the word of God and acts on it” (Lk 8:21). As the Church celebrates the feast of St. Joseph the Worker on May 1, may we turn our attention… Read More

The Truth About How Early Christians Celebrated Easter
(OSV News) – Like Christmas and other Catholic holy days, Easter is often misunderstood and mis-celebrated. Either its origins are said to be based on pagan holidays (a myth we will bust), or we treat it as a day to binge after a season of fasting. So, to fully embrace Easter, let’s look at how the early Christians understood… Read More

A Guide to the Devotions and Liturgies of Holy Week
(OSV News) – What are you doing for Holy Week? It’s OK if your Holy Week list includes coloring eggs, cleaning and baking for Easter, shopping for new outfits, traveling to a relative’s home, or going on a spring vacation. There’s nothing wrong with secular Easter activities. But it’s important to keep in mind… Read More

Meditating on the Way of the Cross Is Not Only for Lent
(OSV News) – The Way of the Cross is one of the most personal, meditative, and graphic of any Catholic devotion. We spiritually join Jesus on the via dolorosa (“sorrowful way”) leading to the place of the skull, suffering with Him as He struggles to carry the cross on that first Good Friday. The crack of the… Read More

St. Joseph: A Humble Model for All Fathers
(OSV News) – One of St. Joseph’s most devoted followers, St. Peter Julian Eymard, recommends we use the March 19 feast of St. Joseph as an opportunity to seal a devotion to him, saying, “I consecrate myself to you, good St. Joseph, as my spiritual father; I choose you to rule my soul and to teach me the interior… Read More

Mary: The Perfect Lenten Companion
(OSV News) – As we’re firmly entrenched now in Lent, the season directs us to recall our own baptism and prepare for the celebration of the paschal mystery of the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. It is a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, and it helps us grow closer to Jesus. In celebrating Lent and in… Read More

The History and Significance of Ash Wednesday
(OSV News) – Among the beautiful, meaningful and solemn ceremonies of the Catholic Church is the gathering of the faithful on Ash Wednesday. This special day begins our Lenten journey. It is the start of 40 days of prayer, penance, and almsgiving as we prepare ourselves to celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.… Read More

The Climb to Ash Wednesday
Being from northern Indiana, I’ve never lived on a hill. In fact, when I was younger, I often wondered why people bothered to build houses on hills. There were, after all, plenty of flat places that seemed to my 6- or 7-year-old mind much more amenable to construction. When I first began ministry, I lived… Read More
