Same-Sex Attraction

You are made in the image of God. You are first and foremost called by God into union with Him. When you were created, you were intentionally and lovingly designed by God, who declared you “good” just as you are. Who you are as a person is deeply needed by the Catholic Church and by our world.

Below, find resources, community, and support as you become evermore who you were created to be.

Courage: You are not on this journey alone.

Courage is a ministry that offers spiritual-based support groups to help men and women age 18+ who experience same-sex attraction and who have made a commitment to strive for chastity. They are inspired by the Gospel call to holiness and the Catholic Church’s beautiful teachings about the goodness and inherent purpose of human sexuality.

If you would like to get involved with Courage in our diocese, contact one of our Courage chaplains. They are there to provide confidential, welcoming, and informative support.

  1. To live chaste lives in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality
  2. To dedicate our entire lives to Christ through service to others, spiritual reading, prayer, meditation, individual spiritual direction, frequent attendance at Mass, and the frequent reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist
  3. To foster a spirit of fellowship in which we may share with one another our thoughts and experiences, and so ensure that no one will have to face the problems of homosexuality alone
  4. To be mindful of the truth that chaste friendships are not only possible but necessary in a chaste Christian life; and to encourage one another in forming and sustaining these friendships
  5. To live lives that may serve as good examples to others.

EnCourage: Be a Support System
