Regarding Father Cornelius Ryan, CSC

On Monday, June 10, 2013, Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades was notified by the Superior of the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province, that a credible allegation of sexual abuse of a minor had been received against Father Cornelius Ryan, CSC. Bishop Rhoades was advised that the abuse is claimed to have taken place approximately twenty years ago in Africa, where Father Ryan then served. In accord with the laws of the Church, Father Ryan has been removed from public ministry. The Congregation of Holy Cross is handling this matter according to its policies and the Church’s norms. Any requests for additional information concerning this matter should be directed to the Congregation of Holy Cross.
