About Us

Founded by Pope Pius IX in 1857, the Diocese of Fort Wayne spans 14 counties in Northern Indiana and is under the leadership of Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades, who was installed as the 9th bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend on January 13, 2010. The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend contains 81 parishes and 43 schools.

The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend operates 43 Catholic Schools across 14 counties, including four high-schools.

The Office of Youth Protection works to create safe environments for children and youth in parishes and schools throughout our diocese.

Pastoral Care and Victim Assistance

The mission of the Office of Pastoral Care is to bring Christ’s compassion to people in emotional, mental, physical, or spiritual need; advocate for people who have been wounded by the Church by helping to restore hope, faith, and love; and connect people to the Church and their faith communities.

Secretariat for Pastoral Ministries and Catechesis

The Secretariat for Pastoral Ministries and Catechesis implements Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades’ vision for evangelization and catechesis and supports the important ministerial work done in parishes.

Hispanic Ministry

The Hispanic Ministry works to strengthen the pastoral care of Catholics with Hispanic roots, by collaborating with other diocesan offices and supporting parishes with Hispanic Ministry.

Marriage and Family Ministry

Marriage & Family Ministry provides pastoral care for couples and parents and promotes a culture of life in families and parishes and the broader communities to which they belong.

Young Adult Ministry

Young Adult Ministry invites all young adult men and women in their late teens, twenties, and thirties, who are single, married, divorced, or widowed, with or without children – to participate in young adult activities and communities.

Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry serves the young church through parishes and schools. “It is from within the Church that you too will find the courage and support to walk the way of the Lord.”

The Vocation Office provides resources and assistance to help you discern whether God is calling you to religious life.

Office of Catechesis

“Catechesis” comes from the Greek word meaning to “echo” Jesus Christ, the Word of God. This office supports pastors, parish directors, parents, catechists, and teachers with faith formation and religious education in families, parishes, and schools.
