Afternoon Meet the guides and have a panoramic bus tour of Porto
Transfer to the City Center for free time to explore and lunch on own
Time permitting, walking tour of Porto City Center

Celebrate private Opening Mass at Irmandade de Santo António dos
Congregados

Reminders for Group Leaders:

In Porto  

  • Check in with every Chaperone/YA Group Leader at baggage claim to ensure all groups have arrived through customs okay.  
  • Chaperones should ensure youth have received their medications and that they have been recorded on the pilgrim’s medication forms. 
  • Bus captain takes roll call on bus departing from airport, they can make announcement and call out each chaperone/YA Point Person’s small group to make sure everyone is on bus.  
  • 11:15 AM Group Flight #1 arrives in Porto 
  • 11:45 AM Group Flights #’s 2 and 3 arrive in Porto 
  • Afternoon: Meet the guides and have a panoramic bus tour of Porto 
  • Transfer to the City Center for lunch 
  • Time permitting, walking tour of Porto City Center 
  • Arrive at Irmandade de Santo António dos Congregados by 3PM for Reception of our Diocese at our host parish.

  • Following Mass, transfer to hotels for check-in 
  • Do a roll call again each time we get on the bus. (Can call out each group and get a verbal yes from their chaperone or YAPP that everyone is on the bus)   

On the way to the Porto hotels, announce how the room check in/key distribution will work.  

  • Upon arrival at the hotel, let the tour escort/guide and Diocesan Staff exit the bus to get the hotel room keys and instruct everyone else to stay on the bus. 
  • Give any directions about meeting times or plans for the rest of the day. (Announcements) 
  • Welcome Dinner at Hotel begins 7/7:30pm (verify time with Guide/Diocesan staff) 
  • Chaperones will be doing room checks. Chaperones must verify every youth from in their group is in their correct hotel room. Youth Room Check is 10:30 p.m. each night. Groups should arrive back at hotel no later than about 10:00 p.m. 
  • Chaperones should ensure youth have received their medications and that they have been recorded on the pilgrim’s medication forms.  
  • All adult pilgrims are expected to be at the hotel rooms no later than midnight. 
  • Wake up tomorrow is at 6:45 a.m. All pilgrims must be ready to depart (Breakfast box picked up or eaten, luggage on the bus) by 7:35 a.m.  
  • Tomorrow we will be at Fatima, dress appropriately. 
  • Once pilgrims have their keys, instruct them to disembark, find their luggage which has been offloaded by driver and porters, and head to their rooms. 
  • Then, assist with distributing the keys (as needed)  
  • Chaperones and YAPP’s must listen to key distribution to record in their rooming list the room number of each of the members of their small group.

  • Bus captains should plan to meet briefly with diocesan staff / support staff who are staying at their hotel to review the day and ensure everything is set for the next day.
